Petroleum

A 2007 study of undiscovered petroleum resources in the Permian Basin Province was conducted by the U.S. Geological Survey, which estimated that there is a mean of 41 trillion cubic feet of undiscovered natural gas and a mean of 1.3 billion barrels of undiscovered oil.

With a history of excellence in the industry, potential for additional petroleum development, the availability of advanced training, and the readiness of a skilled workforce, the EnergyPlex will continue to play an essential role in meeting the nations hydrocarbon needs.

Local community leaders understand and support the development of new exploration and petroleum services in the EnergyPlex.

New Mexico Junior College operates one of the largest workforce training programs in the region and recently opened an oil and gas training facility to meet growing industry demand.
