About the EDC of Lea County

In 1963, a group of forward-looking business leaders recognized the need to diversify and reinforce Lea County’s petroleum-based economy, and, to that end, the private sector launched the Economic Development Corporation of Lea County.

The EDC of Lea County is a professional, not-for-profit agency dedicated to improving Lea County’s economic condition and quality of life through business retention, expansion and relocation initiatives. The success of these initiatives would not be possible without the EDC’s active membership, its governmental partners, its peers and the region’s educational institutions.

The EDC also supports entrepreneurial development in cooperation with the local Small Business Development Center and the Rural Enterprise Accelerator Partnership of the Southwest (REAPSW).

Mission, Vision and Values

The EDC’s mission is to promote economic development by providing leadership to Lea County through facilitating relationships among members, businesses and governmental entities to provide stability, growth and diversity.
