On Aspen Dental’s first day of operation in Hobbs, Dr. Kimberly Zheng (pronounced “Jen”) saw 41 patients.
The new dental office, located at 1500 W. Joe Harvey Blvd., near Lowe’s Home Improvement has quickly become a hotbed for dental issues.
Zheng came to Hobbs after a year practicing in Corpus Christi, Texas; which followed her receiving her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine.
“Hobbs is a beautiful, growing and thriving city. There are good restaurants around here, too,” Zheng said. “I plan to stay here a very long time. I love Hobbs.”
Among her first 41 patients she said last Thursday were many who told her they were glad Aspen Dental chose to come to Hobbs.
“They told me they used to have to go to Odessa, Midland or Albuquerque, driving all the way,” Zheng said. “They were so happy that Aspen is in this town and now they don’t have to travel so much with more accessible dental care here than ever.”
Zheng and her team will provide a range of dental services, including dentures, preventive care and restoration.
“Here at Hobbs Aspen, we do a comprehensive examination of the whole mouth. We see all ages. We also have cancer screenings and do crowns, fillings and bridges. We have an in-house lab and our lab makes high quality dentures in a very short period of time,” Zheng said. “We repair all dentures, as well. We have an oral surgeon and we do implants.”
In addition to affordable comprehensive dental care, the new Aspen Dental office provides:
• A free new patient exam and X-rays for those without insurance
• An on-site denture lab and a Denture Money Back Guarantee
• Financing options
An Aspen Dental news release about the new facility noted the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has designated Lea County as a dental health professional shortage area.
Chrissy Roth, Aspen’s regional manager for New Mexico, said the office is open Monday through Wednesday, 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.; Thursday 9 a.m.-7 p.m., and Friday 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
“Then we’ll open one or two Saturday’s per month. As we start getting into business, we’ll start adding more of those days,” Roth continued, noting the area’s population and need for dental services are measurements required to make that decision.
Additional dental professionals may be recruited in the future.
“As the business continues to grow and we get a more solid footing here, there is the potential that could happen,” Roth, who manages the operations and business side, said. “Dr. Zheng could get an associate doctor to help her.”
