    Since the first boom in 1928, the EnergyPlex has been a leader of New Mexico's petroleum production. Located on the Northwestern shelf of the Permian Basin, the EnergyPlex is the largest producer of crude oil and the fourth largest producer of natural gas in the state.

    The EnergyPlex is committed to advancing the role of the nuclear industry and has the support from local and state leaders that is necessary to accommodate the complex requirements inherent in the construction and operation of a nuclear-related facility.

    Wind

    NREL recently ranked New Mexico among the top 10 states for wind potential. 3TIER gives parts of the EnergyPlex a Global Wind Rank of 95%. The EnergyPlex is primed to be a leader in wind-power generation.

    The largest industry in Lea County, mining plays a vital role both in the local economy and on a global scale. Oil and gas and a new potash mine slated to open in the near future create over 8,000 jobs for residents of Lea County.

    NREL has reported the EnergyPlex has a photovoltaic potential of over 6kWh/m2/day, while 3TIER has given the EnergyPlex its Global Solar Rank of between 63 and 66 percent.
